IBM Support

Server service does not start automatically after system reboot.

Troubleshooting

Problem

When the service startup type is set to "automatic" and a system reboot is attempted, the service does not come up during the reboot. No clear error explains why that happens.

Symptom

Windows event log analysis shows that the Tivoli Storage Manager instance service was started, but it stopped quickly without a clear error. This is an abstract from the Application event log:

Information 08/01/2016 14:05:25 ADSMServer 2 None "A TSM Server has been successfully started.
Instance: SERVER1
Type: Service
Account: tsminst1
Version: 7.1.1.0

One minute later

Information 08/01/2016 14:06:23 ADSMServer 3 None "A TSM Server has been successfully stopped.
Instance: SERVER1
Type: Service
Account: tsminst1
Version: 7.1.1.0

No clear error is found in event log, neither in activity log, nor service console log if activated.
