Server rename fails due to incorrect configuration.

Troubleshooting


Problem

JTS could not retrieve the application server rename status.
The following can be seen in the jts.log:
CRJAZ2373E The server could not retrieve the server rename status for application "{0}".
 

Cause

 

  1. Incorrect server configuration
    • The application server is misconfigured, preventing access via the intended Public URI.
    • Port and/or context root changes made during a server rename are not correctly configured on the application or reverse proxy servers.
  2. Invalid network or hostname settings
    • The hostname is incorrectly configured in DNS or OS host file, making it unreachable.
  3. Incorrect URL mappings
    • An improperly configured mapping.txt file was used with the importURLMappings command.
  4. Application not in server rename mode
    • The .mappingEvent file is missing or deleted from the application’s conf directory, preventing rename mode.

Resolving The Problem

 

  1. Correct server configuration (Cause 1 and 2)
    • Ensure applications are installed with the correct context root.
    • Verify the hostname is reachable.
    • Confirm the port defined in server.xml matches the target URL.
  2. Fix URL mappings (Cause 3)
    • Correct the target configuration in the mapping.txt file.
    • Restore the ELM environment to the state before running the importURLMappings command.
    • Repeat the server rename process.
  3. Enable rename mode (Cause 4)
    • Copy the .mappingEvent file to the application’s conf directory.
    • Restart the application server to activate server rename mode.
