Security Auditing Data Not Logged for NetServer Profiles

Problem

This document describes a functional limitation of security auditing in OS/400.

Resolving The Problem

NetServer only audits invalid connection attempts, and a VP audit entry is logged. No other security auditing data is being logged for NetServer profiles, including CP (User profile changed, created, or restored) and/or ZR (Object accessed - Read) entries. Attempts to capture security auditing data on a NetServer profile will result in no entries/records. Such activity can be capture by other system interfaces, ie IFS security auditing or system profile auditing. However, if security auditing data for NetServer profiles is required, then please submit a Request For Enhancement (RFE) for IBM i or by going to the following URL:
