Problem

Using the ScrLk on the keyboard, while the mouse is active in the remote control, will not illuminate and de-illuminate the button on the remote control. Both CapsLk and NumLk work fine. This symptom appears on the Linux platform.

Symptom

Using the ScrLk on the keyboard, while the mouse is active in the remote control, will not illuminate and de-illuminate the button on the remote control. Both CapsLk and NumLk work fine.

This symptom appears on the Linux platform.

The steps to recreate this issue are as follows:

  1. Open the remote control to blade.
  2. Enter it by clicking the mouse while the mouse is over view of the KVM window.
  3. Click the ScrLk button on the keyboard.
  4. Click the NumLk button on the keyboard.
  5. Click the CapsLk button on keyboard.

Note: The remote session buttons for ScrLk does not illuminate, however both CapsLk and NumLk buttons do illuminate.

Solution

  1. Type xmodmap -pm to enable the ScrLk key.
  2. Type xmodmap -e 'add mod3 = Scroll_Lock' to find an unused modifier, such as "mod3". The ScrLk key should work now.
  3. Type /root/.Xmodmap in the hidden file.
  4. Type add mod3 = Scroll_Lock to create the hidden file, if it does not exist, to enable the ScrLk key every time X starts:
