Problem
When trying to add a SAS RAID Controller module from Storage Configuration Manager (SCM) user might see the following error: GWMSB2056E Failed to add SAS RAID Module due to unavailable SMI-S management agent Other sections on SCM may also beaffected, e.g. the BladeCenter SAS Connectivity Module, and there may be others.

Symptom
When trying to add a SAS RAID Controller module from Storage Configuration Manager (SCM) user might see the following error:

Other sections on SCM may also be affected, e.g. the BladeCenter SAS Connectivity Module, and there may be others.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM Servers:
- BladeCenter S, type 1948, any model
- BladeCenter S, type 7779, any model
- BladeCenter S, type 8886, any model
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- IBM Storage Configuration Manager, 1.20.0,2.10.0,2.10.1
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- IBM BladeCenter S SAS RAID Controller Module, Option 43W3584
- IBM BladeCenter SAS Connectivity Module, Option 39Y9195
Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Make sure you check all of the items below:
Use a local account with administrator privileges.
Use a supported operating system.
Make sure you are using an English operating system with SCM 2.10.0. SCM 2.10.1 fixes this issue.
Additional information
No fix, this is working as designed.
The SCM software allows to log in using both local and domain accounts, but you will have limited ability and some parts of SCM may not work.
For SCM to fully work, you must use a local account with administrator privileges.
The SMI-S Management agent requires a local administrator privileges. It does not allow domain accounts to access due to security reasons.
Windows XP and Vista are not supported operating systems. Refer to the SCM doc for more details.
