Scheduling a Dynamic Move Using HMC

Resolving The Problem

To schedule a dynamic move from one partition to another using the HMC scheduling tool, it will work only if first scheduling a remove of the physical adapter and then scheduling an add of the physical adapter. The move to option fails.

To schedule a dynamic move from one partition to another using the HMC scheduling tool, you should follow these steps:

1. Check the partition that currently owns the physical adapters and select Operations, then select Schedule Operations.

2. Click Options, then click New:



3. Select Dynamic Reconfiguration, and click OK.



4. Enter the date and time the move is to take place.

5. Click on the Options tab and I/O.

Note: For IOP driven cards (and dual mode cards under an IOP), remove the IOA, then remove the IOP.
(For IOP-less cards, a move is sufficient.)

This will prompt a new screen:



Select Remove and the card to remove, then click Save and OK.
