Troubleshooting
Problem
This document explains why some libraries cannot be saved to a TSM server.
Resolving The Problem
Most system data cannot be saved to a TSM server using BRMS. After loading PTFs SI36193 (V5R4M0) or SI36197 (V6R1M0) or their superseding PTFs, system libraries are allowed to be specified in a control group but will be prohibited by Save/Restore code during the save. Here is a list of user library values BRMS will explicitly prohibit for TSM saves:
Q1ABRMSF*
QBRM
QGPL
QMSE
QSYS2
QUSRBRM
QUSRSYS
*IBM
*LOAD
*QHST
*SAVCFG
*SAVSECDTA
*SAVSYS
The following commands are not allowed saving to a TSM Server:
o Save Media Information (SAVMEDIBRM).
o Save System using BRM (SAVSYSBRM).
o Save Save Files using BRM (SAVSAVFBRM).
o Duplicate Media using BRM (DUPMEDBRM).
Note: An attempt to use any of the above commands to a TSM device will fail with message BRM2235.
Notice: IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Version 6.2 will reach End of Support (EOS) on April 30, 2015. An extension can be purchased to extend support beyond April 30, 2015. For more information click here
