Troubleshooting
Problem
This document provides instructions for saving APAR (Authorized Problem Analysis Report) data and sending the data to IBM® for analysis.
A problem log entry can also be associated with a System Reference Code B600FDC5. B600FDC5 means that FFDC (First Failure Data Capture) was collected.
Resolving The Problem
1) Create a save file to contain the APAR library:
===> CRTSAVF QGPL/MyAPARlib
2) Execute WRKPRB and then take option "8=Work with problem" on the problem to be diagnosed. Next, take option:
"30. Save APAR data to APAR library"
3) Put "1"s next to:
Opt APAR Data
_ Program temporary fixes
_ System values
Press <Enter> and then <F12>
4) Take option "32. Save APAR library". Leave the APAR library name (QSC...) as-is and set:
Device . . . . . . . . . . . . . > *SAVF
Press <Enter> to see the SAVF parameters. Specify the "MyAPARlib" SAVF created above:
Save file . . . . . . . . . . . MyAPARlib
Library . . . . . . . . . . . QGPL
Press <Enter>. The diagnostic data in the APAR library is now saved to the "MyAPARlib" SAVF.
Exit from the WRKPRB menu.
Two options to get the data to IBM i support:
Option 1) Use QMGTOOLS to FTP the "MyAPARlib" SAVF:
===> ADDLIBLE QMGTOOLS
===> GO MG
Take option "
10. FTP data to IBM".⚠️ Note: Anonymous FTP has been disabled and IBM BD/Transfer ID and password are now required.
Specify "File type" of *SAVF and enter your "Case number#". Hit <Enter> to see the SAVF parameters.
Enter the SAVF File and Library you created:
File . . . . . . . . . . . . . . MyAPARlib
Library . . . . . . . . . . . QGPL
...and press <Enter>. The data is sent to IBM i support.
Option 2) Alternatively, if you do not have QMGTOOLS, FTP the SAVF in binary mode to your PC:
Basic FTP instructions:
Press <WinKey>+<r> to open “Run” box. Type “cmd” and then click “OK” to open a command prompt.
Execute:
FTP <Your IBM i Name or IP address>
...and authenticate to the IBM i with your USRPRF and password.
In the FTP session, execute:
bin (This sets the file transfer mode to binary)
pwd (Print Working Directory, to verify your FTP session is in QGPL library)
get MYAPARLIB
quit
The file will be in the same directory as the CMD session where you initiated the FTP connection. Rename "MyAPARlib" to "MyAPARlib.SAVF" and upload to the Case.
