Save reports to file system occasionally fails (CNC-DS-0022) or gets stuck in 'executing'

Troubleshooting


Problem

When saving reports to file system locations, some fail with an error mesage and others get stuck in 'executing' state.

Symptom

The following error can be seen in the 'Run History':

CNC-DS-0022 Cannot retrieve the canonical path for <path to folder>.

The following error can be seen in the logs (this is for Oracle):

ORA-12899: value too large for column


"COGP_NS"."NC_RESOURCE_LOCK"."LOCK_RESOURCE" actual: 52, maximum: 50

Resolving The Problem

Steps (require assistance from DBA):

1. Stop the Cognos service.

2. Locate the NC_RESOURCE_LOCK table in the Notification Store.

3. Manipulate the definition, increase the length of 50 to a higher value e.g. 100. (UPDATE statement)

4. Start up the Cognos Service.
