Symptom

SAS Controller test removed from Diagnostics due to conflicts with the SAS ASPI driver used for other tests.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM eServers xSeries servers: 
  • x460, type 8872, any model
  • x366, type 8863, any model 
  • x260, type 8865, any model 

The storage option may be configured with one of the following embedded SCSI option:  

  • Adaptec AIC-7910 SAS controller  

The BIOS level(s) affected is/are:  

  • any  

The Firmware level(s) affected is/are:  

  • any  

The system has the symptom described above.

Solution

None.

Workaround

Observe self-test results when SAS controller is initialized during system boot.

Additional information

Problems with the ASPI driver, loaded when diagnostic mode is initialized, may cause unexpected results.

The SAS Controller test has been removed from the diagnostics because the SAS controller tests and provides results as part of the initialization of the controller each time the system is booted. The diagnostic test is seen as a duplicate.
