SAP RFC error RFC_IO27 caused by incorrect number range

Question & Answer

Question

An SAP RFC error RFC_IO27 occurs when the CommonStore server wants to submit an asynchronous return message (CFBC) to R/3 to confirm an asynchronous archiving request by way of RFC. This happens, for example, if you do print-list archving.

Cause

The cause for this error might be an incorrect or missing customization of the ArchiveLink number range in transaction OANR.

Answer

Carefully follow the steps described in the section "Maintaining ArchiveLink number ranges" in the IBM® DB2® CommonStore for SAP: Server Installation and User's Guide.

In step 4, make sure that you enter 01 in the No. field.

If you just enter 1 in this field, the above error occurs because the required number range 01 cannot be found.
