Problem

This technote explains why the error, Runtime Error: ErrorText Not Understood, occurs when importing a document in IBM Rational RequisitePro.

Symptom

The Microsoft Word Automation Server is not functioning as expected.

Cause

This error has also been known to occur In Microsoft Windows Vista when the path of the project is in the default directory and the user does not have full control in the permission's of the directory.

Resolving The Problem

If you suspect the Microsoft Word Automation Server is the cause of this error, run a Repair of the Microsoft Office Suite from the Windows control panel.

  • From the Windows Control Panel launch Add or Remove Programs
  • Select the Microsoft Office Suite from the list of installed programs
  • Select the Change option
  • When prompted select the option to Repair and follow the rest of the prompts to complete the repair.

If are using Windows Vista, store your project in a directory that you are sure the current user has full control of in the permissions.
