Abstract
When running reports with prompt pages to Excel, some users may experience a TypeError.

On some reports with prompt pages, when users run as Excel, a Javscript error may appear in a dialog box: "TypeError: Unable to get property 'text' of undefined or null reference".
Cause
There can be multiple causes for this error, however common ones include:
- There are default selections assigned to a prompt on a prompt page
- There are empty cells inside the table on the prompt page
- Report styles are not upgraded and are still on old styles
- Old Java/Javascript files are being cached in your browser
Resolution
If these reports were migrated from a previous Cognos installation, please make sure the Report Styles (under Report Properties) are updated accordingly. If the reports are using old styles, this may cause Javascript issues.
Also please clear the cache on your browser, which may resolve the issue.
