RTM Graph Blank due to Device Down

Troubleshooting

Problem

Graphs are blank because the device they belong to is shown as status "Down".   RTM will skip graphing if a device status is not "Up".   Set proper "Downed Device Detection" method will resolve the issue.

Symptom

Graphs are empty, value shown as "Nan".  There is no error in cacti.log, polling status is OK.  If run the associated php script to fetch data, it returns correct value (See technote T1018378 Debug graph input value using PHP script server).

Diagnosing The Problem

From Console (Tab) -> Management -> Devices
Click the device name to enter the device page
Check the "Downed Device Detection"
For example, in the below example, "Downed Device Detection" is "SNMP uptime", but SNMP is not setup properly and shown as "SNMP error"
For a Down device, its graphing will be skipped.
Device SNMP error

Resolving The Problem

Set a proper "Downed Device Detection" method, e.g. "Ping", or just choose "None".    Once the device status is "Up", the graph will start drawing.
