RTM Alert for job in Unknown status

Answer

1. Create a new alert template

Console (Tab) -> Templates -> Alert Templates, Click "Add" on the top-right corner.

Create an alert template "Job in ? status", then click Save

2. Create a Data Source for the alert template
Click the 'Data Source' tab, select Data Type -> SQL Query
In SQL Query, enter -> select * from grid_jobs where stat = '|input_status|'
Input Name and Description and click Save


3. Add a Custom Data Input Item
In the 'Custom Data Input Item', click Add on the right side, and in the next page, create a new item
Name: status
Description: Job status
Default Value: UNKWN
Click Create


4. Now the |input_status| will be replaced by UNKWN in SQL syntax, click "Check SQL" button to verify the syntax.


5. Modify the layout
Go to Layout tab, add and re-arrange columns as needed.


6. Now you can see the jobs in 'Unknown' status in "Breached Items" tab


7. Create an alert from the template

Console (Tab) -> Management -> Alerts, Click "Add" on the top-right corner.

select the template just created "Job in ? status", Click Create.

8. On next page, set proper settings for this alert
Change the alert name to "Job in Unknown status"
Set the Cluster Association if you want the alert work on a particular cluster.


You may change the status to different keyword for different job status, so you can use the same template to create alert for different job status.
Click Create and you are done.
