Route Guide Builder
Use the Route Guide Builder as your workbench for addingand editing your Route Guides.
Searching for Route Guides
You can searchfor the following fields to locate Route Guides:
- Rule Name
You can enter the name of a Route Guide rule to display thatrule.
- Tender Method
You can search for Route Guide rules that use any of thesetendering methods:
- All
- Broadcast
- Sequential
- Manual
- Broadcast for Capacity
- Broadcast for Review
- Origin or Destination
You can search for rules that have a specific origin or destinationarea.
You have the following options:
- Enter a complete area name. Sterling TMS displays thatname on the right side of the page.
- Enter the beginning of a name and then press Enter. Sterling TMS returns allareas that start with those letters. If Sterling TMS returns multipleareas the origin or destination list box displays a red border. Youcan then select the area that you want.
- Click Select
to choose anarea.
- Click Create
to define anarea
- Active State
You can search for active or inactive Route Guides:
- Active
- Only find route guide rules that are currently active based onthe effective and expiration dates.
- Inactive
- Only find route guide rules that are inactive based on the effectiveand expiration dates.
- All
- Find all route guide rules. This is the default setting
Adding and Updating Route Guides
Use thebuttons on the Route Guide Builder page to createor update your Route Guides:
- Add
Opens the Add Route Guide page whereyou can create a new Route Guide.
- Edit
Opens the Edit Route Guide page whereyou can update the selected Route Guide.
When you have finished adding or editing Route Guidesclick Done to return to the Set UpContracts page.
Viewing the Route Guide Builder Table
TheRoute Guide Builder page lists the Route Guides you have defined.The table contains the following columns.
- Rule Name
The name of the Route Guide.
- Origin
The origin of the contract lane that is defined in the RouteGuide.
- Destination
The destination of the contract lane that is defined in theRoute Guide.
- Tender Method
Shows the tendering method that is assigned to the Route Guiderule.
If the Route Guide contains more than one rule the tenderingmethod for the primary rule is displayed.
- Mode
Shows the transportation mode such as Truckload LTL or Intermodal.
- Effective Date
The date the Route Guide went into effect.
- Expiration Date
The date the Route Guide expires. After the expiration date Sterling TMS no longeruses the Route Guide to organize and sort carriers as part of thetendering process.
- Auto-Tender
Shows whether the Automatic Carrier Selection feature is enabledin this Route Guide.
- Route Guide Tendering Strategy
Shows whether tender time fence settings are defined in thisRoute Guide.
