Rose RealTime times out when using Visual Source Safe (VSS) for version control

Problem

Visual Source Safe (VSS) cause Rose® Realtime to timeout with the following error: Error: The shell command ""D:\Program Files\Rational\Rose RealTime\bin\win32\rtperl" -w "D:\Program Files\Rational\Rose RealTime\bin\win32\cmscripts\msvss\cm_status" -D "D:\Program Files\Rational\Rose RealTime\C++" -E "RTClasses.rtlogpkg" -E "RTComponents.rtcmppkg"" did not terminate in the specified timeout.

Cause

This error is usually caused by that the VSS account variables are not set up correctly.

Resolving The Problem

Make sure that VSS doesn't prompt for Username and Password when accessing VSS from the command prompt.

If prompted for Username and Password set the following environment variables to solve the timeout problem:
ssuser = "Username"
sspwd = "Password"
