Root password change on xCAT management node

Question & Answer

Question

After changing xCAT management node root password, is it necessary to update the password of xCAT adapter in PCMAE?

Cause

When adding an xCAT adapter, the root password of xCAT management node is required. However, if the root password has changed, updating the password in xCAT adapter is very difficult because:
1) To modify the password of xCAT adapter, need to disable it first
2) Disabling is not allowed if there are active clusters running on the xCAT nodes

Answer

It is not necessary to update the password once the adapter is in use. Everything will work fine. The root password is only required when adding an xCAT adapter,
