IBM Support

Robot support for Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) Controls.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Robot level of support for VBA or MFC Controls is detailed below.

Resolving The Problem

VBA, like MFC or any other painted controls is only minimally supported by Robot.

The SQA OLE Control Extension (OCX) was not designed to work with VBA.

All controls in a VBA application are rendered as painted controls, causing a problem for the SQA OCX, which was designed to expose the properties of real objects.

Therefore a user may only get coordinated based recordings. However, some VBA applications allow for the use of Microsoft's Object Scripting Language. For further details see TechNote 1132295.
