Restricting Access to Change Status From List Tab

Troubleshooting

Problem

Bulk change status action is accessible from the list tab.

Symptom

Steps:

1. Go into the Conditional Expression Manager and bring up a conditional expression that checks if a work order is a task.

condition: TEST
type: expression
Expression :istask = 1

2. Go to the Security Groups application, bring up Security Group called MAINT

tick Independent of Other Groups checkbox
tick Authorize Group for All Sites checkbox

Grant Read and Save work order to Work Order Tracking application

Grant access to the following signature options:
- Change Status,
- Approve Work Order,
- Initiate Work Order, and
- Complete Work Order

NOTE that the TEST condition is applied to the Change Status option. This will allow a user to change only a TASK but not a WORK ORDER.

3. Pick a user that does not have access to the Work Order Tracking application and assign her to the Security Group.

4. Log into Maximo as the user.

5. Go to the Work Order Tracking application.

6. Select any work order.

7. The Change Status button for work orders is disabled, but the Change Status button for the task is enabled.

8. Now go to the List Tab. Notice that the Change Status action is still available in the Action List although the change action button is disabled.

NOTE: Users who are not suppose to be able to change status from the list tab are now allowed to do a bulk status change of work orders.
