Restricted Characters
When you define names addresses and other text fieldsin Sterling TMS youcannot use the following characters:

| # | Pound sign |
| < | Less than sign |
| > | Greater than sign |
| | | Pipe character |
In addition certain text fields such as reason code namesdo not support the following characters:

| _ | Underscore |

| Question mark |
In addition a shipper or carrier cannot create an areaname that contains a period. Only areas created by Sterling TMS cancontain a period in the name. For example MN.USA is the Minnesotastate area.
As a best practice you should only use lettersnumbers and the following characters in text fields:
