Question & Answer
Question
Does MaaS360 have the ability to restrict end users from disabling location services?
Cause
MaaS360 cannot restrict end users from modifying the location services on iOS devices. Whether the devices are Supervised or Non-Supervised, end users have complete control over the location services settings. This is a limitation imposed by Apple to uphold the privacy of end users. As a result, the end users have full control of the device's location service settings due to Apple's privacy measures.
Answer
The workaround is to manually enable "Don't Allow Changes " to Location Services from the device within Screen Time. Then, access to Screen Time can be restricted via the policy.
Follow the steps below to restrict changes to Location Services on the device.
- Turn on location services for the MaaS360 app on the device.
- Settings > Apps > MaaS360 > Location > Select "Allow Location Access"
- Then, navigate to Settings > Screen Time > Content & privacy settings.
- Enable Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Select Location Services under Privacy. Enable Location Services and select Don't Allow Changes.
Next, disable "Allow User Enabled Restrictions" within the iOS policy or assign a policy with "Allow User Enabled Restrictions" disabled.
