Troubleshooting
Problem
This document explains how a user can restore objects in QSYS from original installation media (CD-ROM).
Resolving The Problem
On occasion, users might accidentally delete an object from QSYS that could result in an application not working as desired. If the user has performed a full system save prior to the deletion of the object, recovery can be easy. For additional information, refer to the following document.
System Objects Restored without Reloading the Entire Operating System.
However, there are occasions where a full system save has not been performed and now the object must be restored from the original installation media (CD-ROM). The easiest way to locate where an object is located on the CD is to use the DSPOPT command. The problem is determining which path to use. This document will provide an example of the proper way to display the contents of the original installation media for the objects residing in QSYS.
Note: Not all objects can be restored from QSYS. For additional information, refer to the Rochester Support Center knowledgebase document linked above for further details.
The environment for this example is a V5R3M0 system, and the object that must be restored is QPRTSPLQ in QSYS. To restore QPRTSPLQ in QSYS, do the following:
A V5R3M0 .txt file is attached that has a complete listing of the /Q5722SS1/Q5300024/Q00 contents. This shows all objects in QSYS and their respective Optical files.
R530 QSYS Objects and Optical files.txt
At V5R4M0, the path is /Q5722SS1/Q540*024/Q00. (character * can be 0 1 2 3 depending on resave version)

| 1. | Insert the CD labeled B2924_02 into the optical drive. |
| 2. | On the operating system command line issue the following command: DSPOPT VOL(B2924_02) DEV(OPT01) DATA(*SAVRST) OUTPUT(*PRINT) PATH('/Q5722SS1/Q5300024/Q00/*') <ENTER> |
| 3. | Issue the WRKJOB command, select Option 4 to "Work with spooled files", and then select Option 5 on the QSYSPRT file that was created to display the contents. You will see a screen similar to the following: |
| 4. | In the Find field, type QPRTSPLQ, and press <F16> to get the following screen: |
| 5. | To find the appropriate path (optical file) that this object resides in, <Page Up> until the header information is displayed as follows: |
| 6. | Notice that the optical file listed is /Q5722SS1/Q5300024/Q00/Q05. |
| 7. | To restore the QPRTSPLQ object, on the operating system command line type the following: RSTOBJ OBJ(QPRTSPLQ) SAVLIB(QSYS) DEV(OPT01) MBROPT(*ALL) ALWOBJDIF(*ALL) + OPTFILE('/Q5722SS1/Q5300024/Q00/Q05') <ENTER> |
| 8. | The object is restored. Note: B2924_01 contains the OS/400 or i5/OS objects that are not restorable. |
