What does system reference code BA090007 indicate?
Cause
Reference code BA090007 means an attempt to read attempt to read the boot disk failed because of a reserve condition.
Answer
Identify and remove any active RESERVES on the fibre channel storage server.
- If the system is managed by an HMC, check the HMC Serviceable Events or contact your local HMC Support Line Representative for assistance determining the adapter ID location code the error was generated for.
If you already know the location code for which the reference code was logged, you can determine the adapter ID and the LPAR ID from it, e.g.
In Location Code: U8284.22A.78E3XXX-V3-C20-T1-W500507680d045yyy-L0
V3 corresponds to LPAR ID and C20 is the adapter ID or slot number the error was logged against. So in this example, the error was for adapter ID 20 on LPAR ID 3 for Power8 System 8284-224 serial number 78E3XXX. - Log in to the HMC that manages the Power system serial number in question and identify the partition name associated with the LPAR ID from step 1.
- Log in to the partition name and determine the adapter name corresponding to the location code in question.
- Determine the storage type configured on that adapter location code.
- Then, contact your local storage support for assistance identifying and removing any active RESERVES on the SAN storage server.
