Resolving JSF Widget Library problems in JSF applications - Supported JWL Versions

Troubleshooting

Problem

Problems in JSF applications such as browser compatibility, performance, or hx: component failures can by resolved by updating to the latest version of JSF Widget Library (JWL) for JavaServer Faces IBM Enhanced available in Rational Application Developer (RAD) or Rational Software Architect (RSA) for WebSphere.

Symptom

Your JWL (jsf-ibm.jar) might be out of date if your JSF application has any of the following problems:

  • Your JSF/Portlet application is using IBM Enhanced widgets (default tag prefix "hx:"), and presents issues in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8, but it works in Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer version 6 and version 7 and compatibility view of Internet Explorer version 8.
  • Your JSF/Portlet application uses the hx:fileupload tag and it is having performance problems or throwing exceptions.
  • Your static source analysis tool is displaying security warnings for classes inside the jsf-ibm.jar. No security vulnerabilities are present, but the library has been cleaned to avoid generating these warnings.
  • The hx:CommandExButton component presents problems executing actions under some circumstances,
  • Problems related to Opacity factor using Firefox.
  • The FileUpload component has performance issues.
  • See limited support for newer browser versions ...below
