Abstract

This procedure is valid for:
* FlashSystem new install
* FlashSystem powered off longer than 2 weeks (Flash Data Retention) - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S7004533
* Flash Modules internal structure corrupted

Content

Generic action plan how to reset FlashSystem:                        
1. CLI: Diag -> Configuration Reset -> VM     
reboot system to remove all logical unit information                            
2. CLI: Diag -> Format All FlashCards (aprox. 2-5 min)            
   (Do NOT leave this menue until flashcard format is still running)
3. Update to latest recommended firmware.                           
Check for firmware via IBM Support portal: https://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/myportal/support
4. Clear hardware log: 
CLI: log hwerr clear
5. RAMSAN only, clear ECC log:
CLI: log ecc clear   <- this command does NOT exist for IBM-FlashSystem   
6. reboot system                                                     
7. If any system messages left or a Flashcard is below 90%, create   
   SystemReport and StorageReport and send to IBM FlashSystem support for review.
