Troubleshooting
Problem
An error message might occur, when you try to create an IBM Rational RequisitePro project under a 64-bit operating system. The error concerns the Open Database Connection (ODBC) connection of an IBM DB2 Universal Database (UDB) 64-bit client. As a result you cannot create a project in that environment. This technote proposes a workaround.
Symptom
An ODBC connection error occurred when you try to create a project with a DB2 64-bit client driver on RequisitePro under a 64-bit Microsoft Windows.
The error message is as follows.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
- Unable to connect to the database.
- Ensure that the configuration and account information are valid.
Cause
RequisitePro only supports running in 32-bit mode. This applies both to the operating system and database interfaces.
Diagnosing The Problem
- In the DB2 Configuration Assistant the connection tests pass.
- In the Database Properties window in the ReqPro client, the connection test fails. You test the connection through the Validate button. In this window the ReqPro client opens the ODBC error.
Resolving The Problem
To circumvent the problem, use a DB2 client in 32-bit mode.
