Problem
Customer would like to deploy Controller via the 'standard' client-server method. * In other words, they are not intending to use remote solutions such as Citrix/Terminal Server. What is the recommended network bandwidth and latency (between the client PC and the Controller server) required for Controller ?
Symptom
The speed of Controller depends on many factors. One of these factors is the network speed (both bandwidth and latency) between the client device and the application server.
- The faster the network connection is, then (naturally) the faster the Controller client will run
- Similarly, the more complex use of Controller the end user performs (in other words, the more complicated the tasks that the user asks the system to complete), then typically the more network bandwidth is consumed
- For example, the amount of network data transmitted will be dependant on the amount of data used in forms and reports etc.
It is for this reason that IBM Cognos cannot make any definitive predictions on the exact network needs of an individual customer.
