The twintail.sys Device Driver for the ServeRAID Failover Virtual Adapter is affected.

To remove the IBM Netfinity ServeRAID failover virtual adapter (twintail.sys) device driver from a system operating without two ServeRAID controllers in a failover environment, complete the following steps:

- Log into the system as an Administrator.
- Right-click My Computer on the Desktop and click Manage. The Computer Management section of the Microsoft Management Console will appear.
- Select Device Manager from the left hand pane.
- Select and expand SCSI and RAID Controllers. from the right hand pane,
- Right-click IBM Netfinity ServeRAID Failover Virtual Adapter and select Uninstall.
- Locate the program delvadap.exe, after the uninstall is complete, on the ServeRAID 4.50 or 4.80 device driver diskette, on the IBM ServeRAID Support CD-ROM version 4.50 or 4.80 in the \Win2k directory, Click here to download delvadap.exe
- Run the program delvadap.exe to remove the ServeRAID Failover Virtual Adapter from the Windows Plug and Play Manager.
- Restart the system

ServeRAID driver versions 4.x installs the IBM Netfinity ServeRAID Failover Virtual Adapter (twintail.sys) drivers by default as they are a necessary component to maintain the Microsoft Digital Signature for the driver set under Windows 2000.
Under certain circumstances, it may become necessary to remove the IBM Netfinity ServeRAID Failover Virtual Adapter (twintail.sys) driver from a server.
This will not impact normal ServeRAID operations in non-redundant ServeRAID configurations (meaning a ServeRAID controller(s) operating independently in a Server), however removing the drivers will invalidate the Microsoft Digital Signature.
Removing this driver in a redundant ServeRAID controller failover configuration will disable this advanced function of ServeRAID.
New versions of ServeRAID drivers 5.x and above do not install the ServeRAID Failover Virtual Adapter (twintail.sys) by default and are not a necessary component to maintain the Microsoft Digital Signature.
