Question
How can I permanently remove some of the out-of-box reports? When I delete them from the Report Administrator and even directly from the database, they return the next time the server is restarted.
Cause
The out-of-box reports are built into the MAXIMO.ear file.
Answer
You need to delete them from two places. Delete them from the Report Administration app and from the MAXIMO.ear file. To do so, do the following steps:
1) In Maximo: Goto > Administration > Reports > Report Administration
2) Find, record the file name and delete the reports you do not want. Make sure you wrote down the file names.
For example, these are the filenames of some of the CCMDB standard reports:
IT_change_impl_task_group_by_owner.rptdesign
IT_change_impl_task_group_by_ownergroup.rptdesign
IT_change_impl_task_group_by_supervisor.rptdesign
3) On the Admin Workstation cd into \ibm\SMP\maximo\reports\birt\reports\
3.1) From here do a "dir /s" for the report files to find the subdirectory they are in. In the case of the three above examples, they are in \ibm\SMP\maximo\reports\birt\reports\CHANGE
4) Find the rptdesign files with the above names and copy them to another directory to save (in case you ever want them back), then delete them.
5) Rebuild the MAXIMO.ear file
5.1) cd into \ibm\SMP\maximo\deployment
5.2) run the buildmaximoear.cmd file
5.3) cd into \ibm\SMP\maximo\deployment\default directory to get the MAXIMO.ear file
6) Deploy the new MAXIMO.ear file on you J2EE server(s)
Now when you go back to Report Administration app you will no longer find these reports.
