Troubleshooting
Problem
What are some of the key documents that describe how RMC functions and how to troubleshoot failures?
Cause
The Remote Management and Control (RMC) subsystem used in AIX and Power Linux has not always had the best documentation history. With some of the more recent releases the documentation regarding how RMC works been made more available. There are several key IBM Knowledge Center Documents that do briefly describe how RMC communicates over a network and how to troubleshoot it when the communication fails. These can be very helpful to system administrators to better plan for communications in todays highly secure network infrastructures.
Environment
IBM Power Systems running AIX or Linux
Resolving The Problem
The new collection of documents involving RMC can be found in the IBM Knowledge Center for RSCT 3.2.
