Symptom

The user might find that keystrokes cannot be transferred to the remote host.

This issue has been observed with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5.0b15 for Linux and JRE1.6.5b13 for Linux.

To recreate the issue:

1. Open a Remote Service Adapter (RSA) II remote control window from a Linux Client.
2. Type on the remote graphic panel.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

• System x3755, Type 7163, any model
• System x3755, Type 8877, any model
• System x3850 M2, Type 7141, any model
• System x3850 M2, Type 7144, any model
• System x3850 M2, Type 7233, any model
• System x3850 M2, Type 7234, any model
• System x3950 M2, Type 7141, any model
• System x3950 M2, Type 7144, any model
• System x3950 M2, Type 7233, any model
• System x3950 M2, Type 7234, any model
• System x3550, Type 1013, any model
• System x3550, Type 1913, any model
• System x3550, Type 7978, any model
• System x3650, Type 1914, any model
• System x3650, Type 7979, any model
• System x3655, Type 7943, any model
• System x3655, Type 7985, any model

This tip is not option specific.

The system has the symptom described above.

Workaround

The user needs to replace the faulty JRE on their Linux machines with a working JRE. The following versions of JRE have been tested without any issues:

• Linux JRE 1.6.0_11-b03
• Linux JRE 1.6.0_13-b03
• Linux JRE 1.5.0_18_b02

If the user does not want to replace the faulty JREs, they can try to maximize and minimize the remote control Windows several times to restore the input focus.

Additional information

The input focus was not handled properly in some levels of JRE for Linux. This causes corruption on the remote keyboard of the RSA.
