Register project area or target environment fails with java.lang.NullPointerException

Troubleshooting


Problem

When you run the IBM Case Manager configuration tool task to 'register project area' or 'register target environment', you see the error java.lang.NullPointerException returned in the UI and logged in the log file.

Symptom

In the UI, you see an error returned with the following message:
An error occurred while running the task
 java.lang.NullPointerException
In the logs, you see something similar to the following:
Exception in thread "Thread-11" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.apache.log4j.Logger
