Problem
This technote explains how to resolve an error, "There is a reference to an object that does not exist". This can occur when changing a user password in IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® MultiSite.
Symptom
There are two databases, SAMPL and Test. SAMPL is replicated; Test is not replicated.
- User A is created at site A ( working master site) and mastered there. User A is subscribed user databases SAMPL and Test.
- Go to site A and change the mastership of the user A to site B.
- Synchronize the databases between sites A and B.
- Go to site B and open the ClearQuest Designer and select Tools -> User Administration and select to edit that user.
- The following error occurs when trying to save new password, and the password remains unchanged:
ERROR! An error was detected retrieving information from the ClearQuest
database. There is a reference to an object that does not exist:
