IBM Support

Refactoring errors when renaming containers or moving folders

Troubleshooting

Problem

When using the Test Navigator included with some IBM® Rational® products to rename projects or folders or to move folders that contain test assets that refer to other test assets, a refactoring error message is displayed.

Symptom

If you use the Test Navigator to rename projects or folders or to move folders containing test assets that refer to other test assets, refactoring errors can occur. The following error message is displayed:

An exception has been caught while processing the refactoring.

Reason:
org.eclipse.core.internal.resources.ResourceException: Resource 'test asset' does not exist.

Click 'Undo' to undo all successfully executed changes of the current refactoring.
Click 'Abort' to abort the current refactoring.

Clicking Undo or Abort does not undo or stop the renaming or moving of projects and folders. You must manually correct the asset dependencies between test assets that refer to other test assets.

Test assets that refer to other test assets can include:

  • Schedules that refer to tests
  • Schedules that refer to locations
  • Tests that refer to datapools
  • Test logs that refer to tests
