How to recover or restore a deleted report in Report Builder for IBM Jazz Reporting Service (JRS)
Objective
Users can sometimes delete a report unintentionally and might need to recover it.
Steps
There are no restore or undelete options for individual reports in JRS.
To restore a report, you would have to recover the Jena database used to store the JRS reports.
JRS performs an automatic backup of the JRS database. The backup interval is configured in the RS app.properties file, jena.tdb.backup.interval parameter. The default is 360 minutes (6 hours).
The backup location in the <RS install location>\conf\rs\db_backup.
You need to review the rs.log to confirm when the most recent backup was.
For example, 2021-05-13 01:23:33,840 [ JRS TDB Database Backup] INFO tegration.reporting.model.stores.TDBResourceBackup - Backup of RB's database (383 resources) completed in 12 seconds.
When the report was deleted after the last backup time, you can restore the database from the db_backup folder.
When you perform a file system backup of the JRS installation, you can restore from that data. Once you deleted the reports after the last file system backup.
Changes to all reports since the time of the backup are lost when you restore the database.
To restore a JRS Jena repository, you need to do the following:
- Stop the JRS application
- Backup or Copy the <RS install location>\conf\rs\db folder to a safe place
- Copy the <RS install location>\conf\rs\db_backup folder contents or the file system backup folder to the db folder
- Restart the JRS application
