Recalling Commands with F9 Key

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes what is needed for the F9 key to recall previous commands.

Resolving The Problem

Why doesn't the F9 key recall previous commands?

The F9 key recalls the commands from the job log. If the logging level for message logging in the job description is too low, there are no commands logged in the job log to be recalled. This information can be checked using the Display Job Description (DSPJOBD) command on the job description the interactive job is using. Page to the second page of the Display Job Description screen; under Message Logging, the Level parameter must be 3 or 4 for the F9 key to recall the commands. If this Level parameter is not 3 or 4, use the Change Job Description (CHGJOBD) command to change it, sign off, and sign back on. The F9 key is able to retrieve the previous commands.
