"Rear guard corruption" error on the Network IPS

Troubleshooting


Problem

Under certain conditions, the inspection engine of the Network IPS (GX) can crash with a signal 11. The logging points to a "rear guard corruption" error.

Symptom

If this issue arises, the GX goes Unhealthy in SiteProtector and the LMI web interface displays the following messages under the System health on the Appliance Dashboard:


Restart threshold exceeded for engine
Internal process failure detected
