Known limitations and workarounds
The following are software limitations and workarounds that affect IBM Workload Scheduler version 10.1 Fix Pack 6.
Installation and upgrade problems with provided drivers for MS SQL and Azure SQL database
When installing fresh or upgrading to version 10.1 Fick Pack 6, you might encounter an error similar to the following if you are using MS SQL on premise or Azure SQL database:
<
AWKCLI102E A database error occurred. The internal error returned by the database manager is: ""encrypt" property is set to "false" and "trustServerCertificate" property is set to "false" but the driver could not establish a secure connection to SQL Server by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption: Error: Unexpected error: java.security.InvalidAlgorithmParameterException: the trustAnchors parameter must be non-empty.Workaround
You can perform ONE of the following actions:
either add the following strings in the CLIConfig.properties file available in the IBM Workload Scheduler image in the \broker\config path:
com.ibm.tdwb.dao.rdbms.encrypt=TRUEcom.ibm.tdwb.dao.rdbms.trustServerCertificate=TRUE
and re run the installation.
- Or use the database drivers provided with version 10.1 Fix Pack 5. To select these drivers, specify the path to the 10.1 Fix Pack 5 drivers using the --dbdriverpath parameter when running the installation.
Installations on Linux S390 requiring a WebSphere Application Server Liberty version equal or prior to 2025.0.0.01
When installing IBM Workload Scheduler on Linux S390 operative systems, you must use a WebSphere Application Server Liberty version that is equal or prior to 2025.0.0.01.
Issue when installing agents previous to V10.2
After the installation or upgrade of an agent to V10.1 Fix Pack 6, any new installation of an agent of a version previous to V10.2 results in the agent not being able to schedule items.
ITLM tool incorrectly discovering z-centric agents
After installing a dynamic agent, the ITLM tool might incorrectly discover a z-centric agent. You can find two possible reasons and their workarounds below:
The directory in which you temporary unzipped package images contains a wrong tag
If you did not delete the temporary directory, delete the following file:
The directory in which you installed the package contains a wrong tag
To avoid the issue, delete the
ibm.com_IBM_Z_Workload_Scheduler_Agent-9.5.0.swidtagfile from the following path:
Mixed-version environment with a master domain manager at a version earlier than 9.5 Fix Pack 4
Before you install a component at version 10.1 Fix Pack 6 in an environment with a master domain manager at a version earlier than 9.5 Fix Pack 4, install the fix for IJ47731 on the back-level master domain manager.
The fix is available on IBM Fix Central for version 9.4 Fix Pack 7. For other product versions, contact Software Support. For more information, see IJ47731: CHECKSYNC JOB FAILED IN IWS 10.1 FP02 - AWSJCL075E ERROR.
Impossibility to configure an on-premises and cloud mixed environment on V10.1 Fix Pack 6
When configuring an on-premises and Kubernetes mixed environment on version 10.1 Fix Pack 6, an issue occurs during the installation of the IBM Workload Scheduler on-premises agent. The installation fails when the on-premises agent tries to download Kubernetes certificates.
APAR IJ49049 - Limiting the number of objects retrieved by queries
monitorMaxObjectsPM property only limits the number of results for archived plans queries. The property does not affect current plan queries. For more information, see Limit the number of objects retrieved by queries.
APAR IJ50461 - Dynamic Workload Console installation on Windows fails if the master domain manager is already installed in the same installation path.
The installation of the Dynamic Workload Console on a Windows operating system might fail if the path selected for the installation already contains an IBM Workload Scheduler instance.
Issue when moving from certificate authentication to JWT authentication if the agent was installed using custom certificates.
If you installed the agent using custom certificates, and therefore a custom password, the
AgentCertificateDownloaderscript fails because the script has an hardcoded password value that isdefault.Issue during the installation of a dynamic agent on IBM i.
When installing a dynamic agent V10.1 Fix Pack 1 and V10.1 Fix Pack 3 on IBM i, if the
JWTparameter is set totrue, the installation completes, but the agent is not registered.
Issue when scheduling jobs on Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools version 8.61.
An issue may occur when scheduling jobs on PeopleSoft, causing jobs to go in ABEND status. Moreover, the following error message appears in the job logs:
On Windows operating system
Add the
-DTM_ALLOW_NOTLS=Yjava property to thepsagent.cmdscript.
On UNIX operating system
Add the
-DTM_ALLOW_NOTLS=Yjava property to thepsagentscript.
$JAVA_DIR/java $JVM_FLAGS -DnoLogCmd=true -Dtws.data.dir="$UNISONWORK/" -Dtws.dir="$METHODS_DIR/" -classpath $CPATH com.ibm.tivoli.PeopleSoft.Agent.PSAgent "$@"To overcome the issue, you must change the
psagentscript as follows:
$JAVA_DIR/java $JVM_FLAGS -DTM_ALLOW_NOTLS=Y -DnoLogCmd=true -Dtws.data.dir="$UNISONWORK/" -Dtws.dir="$METHODS_DIR/" -classpath $CPATH com.ibm.tivoli.PeopleSoft.Agent.PSAgent "$@"Doubled triggered events.
When creating an event rule using Job Stream Status Changed with filter on status
RUNNING, instead of triggering only one event, two events may be triggered for the same job stream instance.Fresh installation of a dynamic agent version 10.1 Fix Pack x not working properly with a master domain manager at a later version
You may encounter problems with job submissions if your dynamic agents meet both of the following conditions:
- The dynamic agents are a 10.x version and are connected to a master domain manager at a later version
- The dynamic agents are using either:
- default certificates, or
- certificates downloaded using the AgentCertificateDownloader script or the wauser and wapassword parameters at installation time
Disable JWT-based authentication
Install the dynamic agents using the wauser and wapassword parameters and setting the jwt parameter to false.
Use SSL Certificates
- Download the certificates from the master domain manager to the dynamic agents.
- Install the dynamic agents using the sslkeysfolder and sslpassword parameters to specify the local path to the certificates.
Upgrading dynamic agents version 10.1 Fix Pack x to a later version fails
You may encounter problems when upgrading your dynamic agents from v 10.1 Fix Pack x to a later version if the dynamic agents meet both of the following conditions:
- The dynamic agents are a 10.x version and are connected to a master domain manager at a later version
- The dynamic agents are using either:
- default certificates, or
- certificates downloaded using the AgentCertificateDownloader script or the wauser and wapassword parameters at installation time

Installing the Fix Pack
This section describes how to apply Fix Pack 6 to IBM Workload Scheduler.
Installation notes
- Before installing the Fix Pack, ensure you have installed the required prerequisite software. To obtain the latest information about software requirements for IBM Workload Scheduler, run the Detailed Software Requirements report and browse to the relevant section.
- The minimum required WebSphere® Application Server Liberty version to successfully install the Fix Pack is 24.0.0.3 or later.
This Fix Pack supports DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition, Version 10.5 on HP-UX and Sun Solaris operating systems only. It is available for download from the Passport Advantage web site with part number: CNED3ML. After the installation of DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition, Version 10.5, you must manually apply the license activation key (.lic file). The license key must be downloaded separately from the Passport Advantage web site. The part number related to the license activation key is CNED3ML. The key must be registered using the db2licm command. See Applying DB2 licenses licenses for the procedure to register the key.
If you already have installed DB2 Advanced Workgroup Server Edition, you can switch this license with a DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition license, by following the procedure in Updating licenses. Note that when the procedure references the product-identifier as in step 3:
db2licm -a product-identifier, replace the product-identifier with the file representing the license activation key (.lic).On UNIX™ operating systems, before installing the IBM Workload Scheduler Fix Pack, ensure that your umask is set to 022. To verify that umask is set to the correct value, from a command prompt, run the umask command. If the value is different from 022, modify it by running the command:
umask 022- On UNIX operating systems, the database administrator must have read and run privileges for the IBM Workload Scheduler installation path; otherwise the installation fails.
- When installing on Solaris or AIX operating systems, message logs as
/usr/sbin/nslookupare returned. These message logs are normal and do not impact the installation. - This Fix Pack installs a new version of the file tws_env.sh (tws_env.cmd) and also creates a backup file named, tws_env.sh.bk (tws_env.cmd.bk), which are both saved to the TWA_HOME/TWS directory, where TWA_HOME is the IBM Workload Scheduler installation directory. After installing the Fix Pack, if you have modified the original version, merge the content of the new version with the content of the original version to carry your customized content into the new version.
- On IBM i operating systems, if you want to install the Fix Pack on the agent for z/OS and IBM Workload Scheduler Dynamic Agent, verify that the user profile used as TWSUser is not a member of a group profile. Set the group profile associated with the TWSUser to *NONE. If the TWSUser is a member of a group, the Fix Pack installation fails.
Only on Windows™ operating systems, to correctly display double-byte character set (DBCS) characters, you must perform the following actions:
- Set the
LANGenvironment variable to the DBCS language code you want to use, for example, set LANG=zh_CN. - Set the
TWS_TISDIRenvironment variable to the IBM Workload Scheduler home directory, for example, set TWS_TISDIR=C:\FTA\TWS. - Open the Control Panel window and click Clock, Language, and Region.
- Click Region and Language.
- In the Format tab, choose from the Format drop-down list the language you want to use.
- In the Keyboards and Languages tab, under Display Language, click install and follow the steps to install the DBCS language pack you want to use.
- In the Administrative tab, click Change system locale and, from the drop-down list, choose the language (system locale) you want to use.
Note that all the settings must be coherent, that is they must refer to the same DBCS language setting. After you have completed these changes, reboot your workstation to have the changes take effect.
- Set the
- When installing a dynamic agent or a fault-tolerant agent, ensure that the agent name does not start with a number. If the name of the dynamic agent starts with a number, use the -displayname parameter at installation time to specify a different name. If the name of the fault-tolerant agent starts with a number, use the --thiscpu parameter at installation time to specify a different name.
