IBM Support

Rational Robot records .NET objects using an Object Index recognition method

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote provides you with information about using the Microsoft® .NET Framework with IBM® Rational® Robot to take advantage of .NET support.

Cause

The .NET Framework has been installed after a Rational Testing product. And this is why the Rational Robot records .NET objects using an Object Index recognition method instead of a more reliable Object Name recognition method.

Resolving The Problem

Rational .Net Enabler is not required for version 2003.06.00 and up.

To take advantage of .NET support in Rational Robot, you should install the Microsoft .NET Framework before you install any Rational products. If, however, you have already installed Robot and want to add .NET support:

  1. Go to the Control Panel and open Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Select Rational Testing Products and click Modify/Change.
  3. On the feature tree, expand Rational Robot and click Modify.
  4. Click Next. Then proceed with modifying the installation to include .NET support.
