How to configure
The following are the steps to set up the integration for Rational Quality Manager 1.0.1.1. ( The Rational Quality Manager 2.0 steps are similar to these.)

Important: To achieve better performance and feature improvements, Users with Rational Quality Manager 1.0.1.1 and RequisitePro7.1.0.x should upgrade RequisitePro to 7.1.0.2 ifix01 first, then contact the IBM Rational Support to get the Rational Quality Manager 1.0.1.1 patch. The details of the patch can be found in the “Known issues and Solutions” section.

  1. Log in to the Jazz administration page, then go to Admin -> Jazz Server Administration -> Advanced Properties, and make sure the Rational Quality Manager Repository URL is correct.

Known Issues and the Solutions

There are known issues are addressed in the following test fix for RequisitePro 7.1.0.2 ifix01 and Rational Quality Manager 1.0.1.1. This test fix will be included in the future release of Rational Quality Manager 1.0.1.2. The fixes are already included in the released Rational Quality Manager 2.0. Please contact IBM Rational Support to get this patch.

Problems adressed in this patch:

  1. Deleted RequisitePro requirements still show up in Rational Quality Manager. After applying the patch, the deleted requirements will be marked with deleted icons on the requirement list.
  2. Querying requirements is slow. It takes much less time to query the same requirements after the patch.
  3. Getting error during large number of requirements "Error: 500 Post too large".
  4. Rational Quality Manager fails during import requirements, with a UTF-8 error regarding parsing. RequisitePro REST API return invalid xml to Rational Quality Manager...This patch provides a filter to escape these invalid characters for RequisitePro.
  5. Rational Quality Manager didn't handle the "empty string" requirement name correctly

Instructions on how to apply the fix:

  1. Stop Rational Quality Manager server.
  2. Back up Rational Quality Manager 1.0.1.1 original jars
  3. Apply the patch.
  4. Delete the Catalina directory under the C:\Program Files\IBM\RQM20\server\tomcat\work\
  5. Delete the RequisitePro connection
  6. Recreate a new RequisitePro connection and try to import again

Additional Improvements in Rational Quality Manager 2.0

The above known problems are fixed in Rational Quality Manager 2.0. In addition to the performance improvements, Rational Quality Manager 2.0 also provides the following major feature improvements:

Rational Quality Manager 2.0 supports multiple-select in requirement view. Navigate to Requirement> View Requirements. Users can multiple-select requirements. For example: After clicking the synchronization button, only requirement status is changed - 'normal', 'updated' or 'deleted'. Users need to 'Reset status' to fetch/see the latest data and also it will clear up related test case's suspect status automatically. In 1011, users have to reset it one by one. In 2.0, they can select many requirements and reset them in one time.

Rational Quality Manager 2.0 can archive requirements, so after delete, they will not remain in the requirement view. Check on one or more requirements, click on ‘Delete’ button to ‘archive requirements’, and select ‘Yes’.
