quiesced snapshot by backup vm on Linux

Question

Generally user can take backup for guest VM by using Tivoli Storage Manager 'backup vm' command for both Windows and Linux OS. In case of Windows OS, Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service is used for taking quiescence snapshot during backup vm. But Linux does not have such service or process for snapshot backup. So how to take consistent snapshot for Linux ?

Answer

The SYNC driver is used on Linux guests. It's a part of VMware Tools.
Basically, you should install it on all Linux Virtual Machines
where you are going to take quiesced snapshots. Here is more info:
