QuickGuide #17: Digital Data Feed (DDF)

Answer

Digital Data Feed (DDF)?

  • The Digital Data Feed solution is made available within IBM Digital Analytics Export and allows extraction of daily customized analytics data for data warehousing.?

  • This self-service data export is ideal for feeding raw data collected via your onsite Digital Analytics JavaScript tags into on-premise CRM systems.

  • In order to use it you will firstly need to ensure that the module has been licensed for use (This can be done through your Account Manager).

  • Once DDF has been enabled you can access it through the Export tool.

Key Details:

  • DDF is available to any client ID with a licensing agreement for Export.

  • You can choose from up to 17 different files types to add to the DDF export.

  • The feed includes self-configurable settings and can be sent to a SFTP location of your choice.

  • Essentially DDF is Raw Data collected from Tags and packaged in to files which can then be exported to an sftp location.

  • Most files in the Digital Data Feed have this format:

    • 1. First field is SESSION_ID

    • 2. Second field is COOKIE_ID

    • 3. Third field is TIMESTAMP

    • 4. Subsequent fields are the detail data related to the data file

    • 5. The SITE_ID field is next which is empty for clients that are not using IBM Digital Analytics Multisite.

    • 6. The last fields in most files are the client Explore attribute fields which have the attribute alias name in the header row if an alias has been provided.

Worked Example:
If there is a requirement for you to export raw MMC Data for Data Warehousing including fields such as Visitor ID Marketing Vendor Category Placement Item Site ID etc then the Digital Data Feed will be ideal for you.
