The queue's pre-exec command failed: Argument list too long

Troubleshooting

Problem

Sometimes a job fails at dispatching and the reason is "Pending: The queue's pre-exec command exited with non-zero status;(exit code 255)". But there is no "exit 255" defined in the pre_exec scripts.

The sbatchd.log has the runQPre error: queue's pre-exec command failed for job: Argument list too long.

Symptom

The stack size on execution host of the user who submitted this job is unlimited. The length of environment variables is long.
