How To
Summary
This technical note outlines the supported upgrade path for the IBM QRadar SIEM, from earlier supported versions to the latest version (currently 7.5.0 Update Package 14).
Objective
- To define the sequential upgrade steps required to upgrade QRadar deployments from earlier supported versions to the latest version (currently 7.5.0 Update Package 14).
- To highlight best practices and considerations (such as backups, disk space, and compatibility checks) for a successful upgrade.
- To provide reference links for obtaining upgrade packages and release documentation.
Steps
To upgrade your IBM QRadar SIEM deployment to the latest version (currently 7.5.0 Update Package 14 ), you must follow a sequential upgrade path, applying specific update packages in order. This upgrade path depends on the version that your deployment is currently on. Each step requires the successful installation of the preceding update package.
The recommended and supported upgrade path is provided in the following table. The first column of the table points to the current version of the deployment. The columns after that point to the sequential upgrades needed to eventually lead to the latest version. For example if your deployment is on 7.5.0 Update Package 8 and you want it to be on 7.5.0 Update Package 14, the environment will need to be:
- upgraded to 7.5.0 Upgrade Package 11
- upgraded to 7.5.0 Upgrade Package 14

Additional Information
Important Considerations:
- Always review the release notes and installation instructions for each update package before proceeding with the upgrade.
- Ensure all hosts are on the same version before applying the next update.
- Always back up your deployment before applying an SFS.
- Review QRadar Upgrade Guide for prerequisites and deployment-specific considerations.
- Refer to the specific release notes for each update package for detailed installation instructions, known issues, and additional requirements (e.g., disk space, browser compatibility). These documents often contain critical information for a successful upgrade.
- Verify minimum disk space and hardware compatibility before proceeding to UP9 and later (RHEL 8 migration implications).
- Interim fixes are version-specific and cannot be installed until you have upgraded to that exact target version.
- For detailed information on software update cases and support policies, see the official IBM documentation:
QRadar Software Update Cases and Support Policies - When upgrading from 7.5.0 Upgrade Package 7 to 7.5.0 Upgrade Package 9, review this article for important instructions.
