QRadar: SSH Failed with error "ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer"

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempting to add a remote managed host can fail with the error:
"ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer"

The error indicates that the remote system terminated the SSH connection attempt to the remote host. This is a generic error often caused by network or server-side configurations

Symptom

While attempting to connect to the managed host using SSH, you may encounter the following error:

# ssh x.x.x.x
ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer

Enable debugging, try connecting to the managed host again via SSH, and verify if you encounter the following messages.

# ssh -v x.x.x.x

debug1: kex: ecdh-sha2-nistp256 need=32 dh_need=32
