QMGTOOLS - Scan QHST Log File

Detailed System Requirements

Abstract

Provides information about the QHST log scanner function in QMGTOOLS.

Content

If the history is collected via dumping to a spoolfile, a user can copy that to a physical file and run QMGTOOLS to scan it for specific message IDs. The primary function is for analyzing a history log when you are not live on a system or performing offsite troubleshooting.
Step 1 Install QMGTOOLS

If the MGTOOLS toolkit has not yet been installed, you should refer to the following document for how to download and install the  MGTOOLS toolkit on your IBM i server.

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1011297

Step 2 Run command QMGTOOLS/SCNHSTLOG, a screen like below should appear.  After the command completes, a spoolfile should be generated.
Note: This requires the history to be dumped to a spoolfile and then copied to a physical file member.
