Question & Answer

Question

Is there help information for the PTF menu in QMGTOOLS?

Answer

The PTF menu in QMGTOOLS provides a way for a user to verify if the system has certain PTFs available on the system.

How To Get QMGTOOLS

Obtain and install a copy of QMGTOOLS library from IBM. Follow the links below for instructions.

The PTF Menu

Get to the main MG menu by running command GO QMGTOOLS/MG. From there, you should be able to see the option to get into the PTF menu.

Option 1. Compare Group PTFs from IBM.  The equivalent command is QMGTOOLS/CMPGRPPTF
Option 2.  Compare HIPER PTFs from IBM.  The equivalent command is QMGTOOLS/CMPHIPER
Option 3.  Compare DEFECTIVE PTFs from IBM.  The equivalent command is QMGTOOLS/CMPDEFECT

When using the options to compare PTFs a spoolfile will be created. View the the spoolfile to see the results.

IBM URL Configuration

Note: This processes uses port 443 (HTTPS) to access these URLs. So even though a PING might work, the system must be able to access these listed sites via port 443.

The information is retrieved from one or more of the URLs configured in this menu item. Note that the URL may not work completely if you copy/paste in a web browser because QMGTOOLS will append additional information to the URL.

If there are any changes needed, we can update the URL information and press F6 to update the table.
