IBM Support may ask for data regarding an IPL. To make gathering data easier, QMGTOOLS includes the IPLDATA command.
The tool collects the following :
Collect IPL messages and flight recorder
SST dump SID 228

Step 2 Run QMGTOOLS/IPLDATA. A screen like below should appear.

| Output | *PF - store data in a physical file, *IFS - store data in the IFS |
| Library to store data | If *PF is selected for output, the library to store the data |
| IFS directory to store data | If *IFS is selected for output, the directory to store the data |
| Previous days to collect | Either set how many days previous to collect or enter a specific date range |

| Signon ID/pass | Signon information to the IBM i |
| SST ID/pass | Signon information for SST |
| Virtual device | Virtual device to use to emulate a terminal |
| Data area prefix | Reserved value used by the tool |
