Abstract
This document describes the CLI trace function in the QMGTOOLS library.
Content
CLI trace option brings up a menu that allows a user to trace DB2 Call Level Interface.
Execute:
===> GO MENU(QMGTOOLS/MG)
If not found, install QMGTOOLS by using following instructions:If found, ensure the tool is up to date by taking menu option 13:
13. Check IBM for updated QMGTOOLS
Once installed and updated, take
Client/Server menu option 4:
4. Client/Server
...and then menu option 1:
1. CLI trace

Menu option details:
Install CLI debuggable service program |
Renames QSYS/QSQCLI to QSYS/QSQCLI2 and copies service program QSQCLISTUB into QSYS/QSQCLI to enable tracing.
NOTE: The job being traced must be started AFTER installing the CLI trace tool.
|
Uninstalls CLI debug service program |
Restores the original QSQCLI service program from QSYS/QSQCLI2
|
| Start CLI trace |
Once the QSQCLI debug service program is installed, this option turns on the trace. NOTE: The "Specific user to trace" applies only to the user profile of the job from which the CLI calls are made, not the user profile of the QSQSRVR job itself. For example, a WebSphere job running under the QEJBSVR profile that makes native JDBC connections under profile TESTUSER is not traced unless QEJBSVR is specified as the trace profile. |
| End CLI trace |
Ends the CLI trace and copies the spooled files (if they exist) into a compressed file to be uploaded to IBM for analysis. The location of the compressed file is
/tmp/<system name>_IBMDATAxxx.zip where xxx is a number. The original location of the data is in /tmp/CLITRACE/ |
Sending data to IBM:
QMGTOOLS: FTP Data to IBM
QMGTOOLS: Sending Data to IBM Manually
